Renton Thurston

Age: 14
Renton Thurston is just a normal boy. He hates his ordinary school, he hates his ordinary life, and dreams of becoming a professional lifter like his idol, Holland. He is honest to a fault and just a little too trusting to do him any good, as he often falls victim to pranks and jokes. Still, he is very determined to do what he feels is the right thing, even though he generally takes everything too seriously. Aside from Eureka, whom he will do anything for, he is the only person who can pilot the Nirvash type ZERO.

Eureka

Age: Unknown
Eureka is an enigmatic, lonely young girl with more than a small amount of trouble. She tends to interact with or understand machines and the trapper currents better than she does humans. She rarely smiles and almost never laughs. Made by the scub coral, she does not possess any natural human emotion, and is often perplexed or baffled by the way the other members of the Gekkostate act. She is a top- notch LFO pilot and once served in a military unit with Holland.

Holland

Age: 29
Holland is the leader of the band of outlaw's called Gekkostate and was once the world's top amateur lifter. He is the idol of many lifters all over the world, including Renton. Aside from his cool attitude and status as Gekkostate's leader, he's a pretty normal guy. He was once in the military, however the experience left him with some heavy emotional scars. His goal in forming the Gekkostate was to carry out anti-government acts across the world. He has a somewhat un- stable relationship with Talho.

Talho

Age: 26
Talho is Holland's partner, the pilot of the Gekko, and Ray=out's cover- girl. She's beautiful, smart, and sharp, but that doesn't change that she's a bit of a bully. She has a short temper and is annoyed by how much Holland and Renton try to protect Eureka, but she's independent and always does what is right.

Anemone

Age: Unknown
The bi-polar young girl who pilots the Federation LFO Nirvash type TheEND. She is an extremely vital part of Dewey's plot to take over the world. She is given a special type of medication to combat her headaches and violent mood-swings. The only person she will listen to is Dewey, much to the chagrin of Dominic.

Dominic

Age: 20
The young elite officer of the United Federation Force. He is dedicated to Dewey, and coordinated his plan for him when Dewey had has fall from grace. He is dedicated and highly efficient. He has been given the job of taking care of Anemone, whom he is very fond of.

Stoner

Age: 30
Stoner is the laid-back photographer who writes all the articles for Ray=out. He used to work for the military, but left with Holland. His demeanor is that of a typical hippy philosopher, but he is still very sharp and surprisingly knowledgeable. He is always taking pictures, even in the middle of a battle.

Hap

Age: 29
Hap is the Gekkostate's second-in- command, as well as a child-hood friend of Holland. He and Holland are like brothers (it was Hap who convinced Holland to leave the military) and he is one of the select few whom Holland confides in. He is very calm and collected, even in a battle, and is a very peace-loving person. He received his nick-name because of the "happy smile" he generally has.

Gidget

Age: 15
Aside from being part of the outlaw crew of Gekkostate, Gidget is a pretty normal teenage girl. She is outgoing, if not a bit naive at times, and never too shy to speak her mind. She follows all the latest trends and is a huge clean-freak, but, like Moondoggie, she has a divine knack for lifting. She has an enormous crush on Moondoggie, despite the fact that the two have completely different personalities.

Moondoggie

Age: 16
Moondoggie is a typically shy person unless he is on a ref-board. Apart from Renton he is the newest member of Gekkostate and has skill with lifting. He is initially highly resentful of Renton joining the Gekko's crew, because Renton is getting the attention that Moondoggie once received, and he is jealous of Renton's overly-outgoing attitude. He has feelings for Gidget.

Matthieu

Age: 25
Matthieu is one of Gekkostate's LFO pilots. He is always laid back and seems to be continuously bored unless he is in battle or on a ref-board. Music is his central passion in life, but at the same time he's got it and he's got it bad for Hilda - he'll do anything she says.

Hilda

Age: 28
Hilda is another one of the Gekko's LFO pilots. She is Matthieu's partner and Talho's best friend, but also acts as the big sister figure to everyone on- board – she's the responsible one who sees that everything gets done and gets done the right way. She is in charge of shopping, as she has a unique intuition for finding the best deals.

Mischa

Age: 40
Mischa is the scientist who works on the Gekko as physician. Ever since Eureka was in the military, Mischa has been studying her. Mischa is always composed, and has a no-nonsense, brutally-honest attitude that leaves her seeming somewhat cold or unfeeling. Occasionally, she will display kindness and understanding, much to the surprise of others around her.

Ken-Goh

Age: 45
The Gekko's weapons specialist as well as its owner. He acts as a father-figure to the rest of the Gekko's diverse crew. He was once a strict military man, but his entire view on life changed when he met Holland, and he has traveled with him ever since. He is quite the archetypal mariner, and would not hesitate to go down with his ship. Oddly, his hobby is painting, and he is surprisingly talented. His works are often included in Ray=out.

Jobs & Woz

Age: 33 & 33
These two snuck aboard the Gekko after reading Ray=out and ended up staying. Jobs handles hardware while Woz handles software, and both are very talented. Jobs is a down-to-earth realist while Woz is quite the psychedelic oddity, but in spite of the apparent mismatch the two are good friends.

Maurice, Maeter, and Linck

Age: 5, 4, 3
The three annoying, insubordinate, trouble-seeking, accident-prone kids who live aboard the Gekko and call Eureka their "Mama." Maurice is the shyest of the three, but is still quite adventurous. Maeter is strong-willed and quite precocious. And Linck is curious about everything single detail and never stops asking questions.

Gonzy

Age: Unknown
Not a lot is known about Gonzy. He's a fortune- teller who snuck onto the Gekko. His predictions are very accurate, and therefore he is well respected amongst the Gekko's crew. He has a habit of showing up at random times and places, but other than that no one really knows what it is exactly that he does. For some reason, he and Eureka get along quite well.

Axel Thurston

Age: 68
Renton's strict and enigmatic grand- father. He wants Renton to lead a normal life, unlike his son Adrock and granddaughter Diana, who left home to follow their dreams and never came back. Though the loss of Adrock left Axel in a lot of pain, he is secretly proud of his son. He just doesn't want Renton to die for his dreams the way that Adrock did.

Lt. Col. Dewey

Age: 36
Once the commander of the United Federation Forces Special Victim's Unit, Dewey was held responsible and incarcerated when Holland rebelled against the military and formed the Gekkostate. He is maniacal in his conviction that he alone can save the world.
